| Solar Powered One Transistor Radio 1957 Designed and Constructed by Jerry This one transistor, one AM radio station, solar powered radio still works. It was built to only receive the single AM radio station in Alamogordo, NM. It was also built to be as small as possible with available "hobby" components. This radio uses a high impedance hearing aid earpiece for listening and requires some length of wire for an antenna. The black square is the solar cell. The tuned coil was hand-wound. The transistor was removed from a discarded hearing-aid. |
